The John Coats School

Oun Kolab is a sixth grade student at the John Coats School.

She is sixteen years old. Her parents are farmers, and she has five brothers. Her brothers also go to the John Coats School. Her house is about a fifteen minutes walk from the school. In her class of forty-two, she  was ranked fifth.

On the new building: I want to take care of this school for a long time. Thank you [Mr. Coats]
for helping me by building it. I like it very much. There has never been a
school like this.

Favorite subject: I like Khmer and math, because I think such knowledge is important to me.

In her spare time: When I have time off school, I help my mother with housework. I also make
the porridge for our pigs. We have five pigs.

On her future: I want to become a doctor, because it pays well, which helps my family. As a
doctor I can also help other families who are sick.

If she could do anything: If I could do or be anything, I would be a painter.

On going to school: I like going to school, because I need to learn.
