on why he became a teacher | “I am Cambodian, and I want to help develop resources in my country.”
on his favorite subject to teach | “I like to teach Khmer because I want the Cambodian people to know about Cambodian culture and the Khmer language. The students also enjoy Khmer language lessons.”
on keeping students interested | “Sometimes it is difficult to keep the children interested and paying attention in class. At times, they like to play before class is finished, and I must make them wait. Because we lack toys, I ask them to draw pictures, or write stories, to have fun.”
on special activities | “Occasionally, I will tell funny stories to help the children relax.”
on the new building | “I am excited and very happy for the new school because the people in my village are poor, and the donor has given us a beautiful new building.”
message to Kazuko Nishie | “Thank you for building us a new school with solar panels and a computer. We are all very happy and grateful for your assistance.” |
