In Their Own Words. . .
On her family: | “I My father was a policeman before he passed away. My mother is working in a garment factory in Phnom Penh. She sometimes comes home on Sundays or holidays.”
On the new building: | “I like the new school building because it is nice. I didn’t like the old building because it was wooden and it was difficult to study during rain.”
On school subjects: | “I like Khmer and mathematics because Khmer teaches me how to respect people and mathematics teaches me to calculate. I don’t like learning applied science because it is about trees and things and is not real.”
On her hobbies: | “When I have free time, I like to get water to put in the tank because that helps with my cooking. I also meet my friends at school to take out the trash from the building and clean the blackboards.”
On her future: | “I want to go to a school of pedagogy because I want to gain high knowledge. My mother only finished primary school. I want to do more. I want to go to Phnom Penh. I also want to be a nurse because I want to help the people in the countryside.”
Message for the Kikkoman Corporation: | “I thank the Kikkoman Corporation for providing this new school building for me and my friends.” |
