The Kirivorn School
Mr. Hok Boy is the 28-year-old director of the Kirivorn School. He was previously a teacher there for eight years, and has now been a school director for nearly two years.
In Their Own Words. . .
| On the new school building: | “I like the new building because we didn’t have a nice building like this before. The old building had a thatched roof and walls which would leak when it rained. The students were always distracted. Now they can concentrate. I look forward to when my children are old enough to go to school, so I can send them to this school.”

| On teaching: | “I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was young. I am very glad to be a teacher now, because I want to educate the younger generation of Khmers. I like teaching primary school because it is important for the students to learn a lot now so that they can continue on to secondary school.”

| On school subjects: | “The students like learning mathematics because it fits in to their real lives. They don’t like learning applied science because it is complicated and difficult for them.”

| On the effect of the new building: | “I think that this new building is valuable to the village because we do not have many people with education here, and so now the children have the chance to get an education.”

| Message for Nishimachi: | “I would like to thank the students of Nishimachi International School for donating this school building for the people here. I wish you all good luck and longevity.” |
