Huot Dilen is a fifteen-year old fifth grade student.
This year she ranked number two in her class.

On herself: “I have two sisters and four brothers. My house is one kilometer away from the school. I walk ten minutes to get to the school every day.”

On her studies: “At school, I like studying geography because there are pictures and letters. It is easy to understand and remember. I am worst in mathematics because I don’t understand the exercises sometimes. I am bad at calculating.”

On the new school: “It is cool in the new school building even though the sun shines. In the old wooden building, it was noisy and you couldn’t study when it rained.”

On her future:

“My mom said she would be unable to support me if I wanted to go to high school. I understand my family’s situation and I’m not angry or have any arguments with her about this. I will stop studying and help with the housework. I’m happy because I have my father and mother. We live together in harmony.”
