The Phnom Koy Nippon

Foundation School

(August, 2001)

Mr. Tem Bo, 53 years old, is the Director of The Phnom Koy Nippon Foundation School.  He is married, and his children are all married and living out of the house.

In Their Own Words.

On teaching:  “I used to be a teacher from 1964 to 1966, then I became a teacher and school director again in 1997.  The children in this village would grow up ignorant without education, so I do my best to teach them well.”

On the new building:  “I like the new school building because when I taught at the old school building, it was very difficult because there were no walls and the water sprayed into the classes when it rained.  The new school building is very different because the kids like to come to school now.  The kids didn’t like to come to the old school building.”

On school subjects:  “I like teaching Khmer and mathematics because they are very important for students in primary school.  I like teaching all four subjects, but those two are my favorite.”

On the school community: “The school community was very happy whenthey saw the new building because this new school will help their children learn.  We are making a garden near the school building and playing fields, so the kids will be able to play at the school as well.

Message for the donor: “I would like to thank The Nippon Foundation for helping the people of this village.”
