The Trabek Nippon Foundation School

(August, 2001)

Mr. Som Yum is the deputy director of the Trabek Nippon Foundation School.  He is also the third grade teacher.  He has been a school director since 1984 and the deputy for three years.

In Their Own Words . . .

On the new building: “This new building is much better than the old one because it is stronger.  It is made of concrete and not wood like the old one was.”

On school subjects:  “I like teaching Khmer and mathematics because I think that they are very important for the students to know.”

On teaching: “I became a teacher because I want the students here to get an education to change their future.  I finished middle school, and went to teacher training school for one year before becoming a teacher.”
