The World Mate School

Number Two

Chon Chart is 14 and in first grade at the school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “I am happy with the new school building because I want to learn in it.  This new building is easier to use than the old one because the old building was very crowded during studying.”

On his family: “I have three sisters and a brother.  My eldest sister never went to school because she doesn’t want to study.  My second eldest sister never went to school because there wasn’t any building there before.  Now she is an adult, so she is too shy to go.  My younger sister is seven and she hasn’t gone to school yet.  My mother pushes her to go, but she is afraid.  My younger brother is five, and too young to go to school yet.  My father and mother are farmers.”

On school subjects: “I like to come to school because it’s very nice.  I like to learn Khmer because I want to learn how to read letters.  I don’t like to learn applied science because it’s difficult.”

On his hobbies: “Besides studying, I like to go fishing with my father.  I like to play football with my friends too.”

On his future: “I want to be a teacher because I want to teach the next generation.”
